Prof. Xiaochang Wang elected to the IWA Board of Directors

Prof. Xiaochang Wang was elected to the Board of Directors – Members and Engagement Committee (BOD-MEC) of the International Water Association (IWA) during their recent meeting in London. The BOD-MEC is the key policy advisory committee, mainly responsible for overseeing new membership programs, honors and awards plans for the IWA, as well as tracking the effectiveness of each process. Prof. Wang is the first Chinese expert in the field of water environment to serve on the core committee of the IWA council.

 

The IWA is a knowledge hub for the water environment, connecting water professionals across the world to find solutions to global water challenges. As a network of water professionals and companies, IWA has a membership comprising researchers, utilities, consultants, industry, and regulators from over 100 countries. Prof. Wang has made outstanding contributions to the expansion of IWA's influence in China and the promotion of its academic activities. He was nominated IWA Fellow in 2011 and IWA Distinguished Fellow in 2014. Also, he served on the IWA Fellows Steering Committee and IWA Cities of the Future Program Steering Committee. Furthermore, he was Chair of the IWA Alternative Water Resources Cluster – China Chapter, Vice-Chair of the IWA Membrane Technology – China Task Group, and Editor-in-Chief of the IWA H2Open Journal. Prof. Wang was, respectively, appointed as member and Co-Chair of the IWA Programs Committee in 2014 and 2016. Under his leadership, a large number of academic staff and graduate students of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) are widely involved in various international academic activities in the field of water environment.
