Prof. Xiaochang Wang delivers invited lecture at Qingdao University of Technology

Prof. Xiaochang Wang delivers a lecture to the undergraduate students and faculty members of the School of Environmental Engineering at Qingdao University of Technology, Qingdao, China on June 27, 2019. The lecture entitled "Principles for Water Wise Cities toward the Future and Worldwide Practices" of Prof. Wang discussed that climate change, population growth and urbanization, and increasing demand for resource supply are stimulating a paradigm shift in urban water system design, and “The IWA Principles for Water Wise Cities” is formulated on the basis of global experience such as LID, SUDS, WSUD and Sponge City practices, faced with common and specific problems in various countries and regions. Besides, international exchange are extremely important toward the future.

 

Furthermore, three world-leading scientists including Prof. David Butler of University of Exeter, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Prof. Tony Wong, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, Professor at Monash University, Australia, Prof. Hiroaki Furumai, Professor at University of Tokyo, Japan, were also invited to give academic lectures at Qingdao University of Technology which generated broad interest of the students and stimulated wide-ranging discussions.
