Updated on November 4, 2019

Prof. Guangtao Fu gave a lecture to the graduate students of the School of Environmental and Civil Engineering at XAUAT, Xi’an, China on November 4, 2019. The lecture entitled "Moving towards digital twins: integrated real time control of urban wastewater systems" firstly introduced the role of water digitalization and data analytics in urban water management, and then discussing the latest work on integrated real time control to improve the performance of urban wastewater systems and demonstrating, through case studies, how the river water quality risk is reduced and system resilience is improved, which generated broad interest of the students and stimulated wide-ranging discussions.

Prof. Fu works at the Centre for Water Systems, University of Exeter, UK and currently is a Royal Society Industry Fellow and Turing Fellow. His research focuses on developing and applying new computer models, data analytics and artificial intelligence tools for urban water management. He has worked extensively on integrated modelling and real time control of urban water systems, impact assessment of green infrastructure and development of innovative solutions for sustainable and resilient water systems.
