International Webinar on Content Sharing of IWA World Water Congress in Copenhagen (I)

The first webinar on Content Sharing of IWA World Water Congress in Copenhagen was held On October 27, 2022, which was jointly hosted by International Forum of Water Sustainability (IFWS) and Xian University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), and co-organized by The International Science & Technology Cooperation Center for Urban Alternative Water Resources Development (Intl AWR Center). Delegates from IWA Fellows Greater China Interest Group (IWA-FGCIG) and IWA China Young Water Professionals (YWP) attended this event online, and over 12000 researchers, technologists and students watched the webinar live broadcast via various media platforms.

 

Prof. Rong Chen from XAUAT firstly introduced the background of the IWA World Water Congress in Copenhagen and specified that the key elements including Opening Ceremony, Keynotes and Closing Ceremony of the congress will be shared and illustrated by series webinars in the next weeks.

 

Prof. Xiaochang Wang as the IWA Board Member gave a brief introduction of the IWA World Water Congress in Copenhagen, and presented the main themeWater for smart livable citiesand six sub-themes as well as seven keynotes of the conference.

IWA Executive Director, Prof. Kala Vairavamoorthy delivered speech via video. Prof. Kala expressed his gratitude to Prof. Wang for the series webinars which provide great opportunity for Chinese delegates to share the key elements of the conference and thus enhance the influence of IWA .

Afterwards, the video of Opening Ceremony-1 was broadcast in the webinar. Tom Mollenkopf, IWA president and other representatives from Congress Organizing Committee, Danish Water and Wastewater Association, Technical and Environmental Affairs for Copenhagen gave welcome speech in the first part of Opening Ceremony.

In the end, the delegates from Tsinghua University, Tongji University expressed their perspectives regarding the IWA Conference, and the topics of climate change and water solution, which generated broad interest of the attendees and stimulated wide-ranging discussions.
